Spain has been going through one of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. The media portrayal of the country has inevitably affected its image both nationally and internationally. That is why my first intention was to provide a different portrayal of the city of Madrid without avoiding the direct subject of the crisis.
In order to do so I investigated the conflicts that make up photography such as the eternal debate between artistic and documentary photography. My goal was to underline that there is no absolute photographical practice that can represent more or less accurately the situation of a city. The only way to raise these issues through pictures was to make the audiences reflect upon the contradictions of photography while making them see that an infinite number of portrayals of the Madrid in crisis could coexist.
